Sometimes I wonder, why me? As I sit back and think about events that have transpired in my life, I can see how God never left me even when I was out of my rightful order. I put others before myself, even when it felt uncomfortable, in attempts to help or be there for them. To be hurt more than once by someone who you continue to give your trust to is soul piercing. The feeling sort of sits heavy on your chest and at the back of your heart, as you work intentionally to try to forget. None of us likes to experience pain, but unfortunately it comes along with living life. God laid down his life so that we could be redeemed, restored and could have a chance at life and life more abundantly, but even He went through pain before his purpose could be fulfilled. Trauma from the past made me guarded over the years, however there are some people in your life who will make you feel like you can let down your guard. When you take the risk of doing so it's important to be observing before you get too comfortable. Your overall well-being depends on it. When you’re a person who protects your heart people may view you like you’re hard core or like you feel like you’re better than others. Don't allow those remarks to change you. I realize the way people view me shouldn't affect me. The times I've tried to change because of how others felt, is when I started making mistakes which allowed for me to be in unfortunate situations that God didn't intend for me to be in. Opening your heart without boundaries is never a good thing to do. Boundaries are essential and are required in order to have peace and to stay in sync with the plans God has for your life. Life is not a fairytale, you will go through things that will seem like the pieces of your heart could never be put back together again, but remember that God sacrificed himself so that you can live in joy and peace knowing that he will walk with you all the days of your life. Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."
